OMBC Statement on Racism in the Outdoors

The Oregon Mountain Biking Coalition’s vision is centered around offering riding opportunities for all. Our sport has yet to fully address inclusivity and equity, and our participants are more monochromatic than the communities we claim to serve. This does not have to be the case. Trails themselves do not discriminate. Trails accept all.

June 6th is National Trails Day and we encourage you all to enjoy your favorite local trail in a responsible manner, but also to engage in action that makes your local public lands a more welcoming place to Oregon’s traditionally excluded communities. The history of Oregon’s public lands is intimately intertwined with those of racial disparities and the displacement of indigenous communities. The OMBC will take steps to acknowledge racism in the outdoors and challenge its members to help create equitable outdoor spaces for all. We are listening.
